Bay Ledges premiered their video for “I Wonder” exclusively today with FLOOD Magazine. “The resulting clip captures the song’s electric energy and haunting melodies, making the most of the stark Cali desert locale,” FLOOD notes. “It’s a tune that’ll stick with listeners well after the fact, making its chart-topping status no surprise.” “I Wonder” is taken from the group’s latest EP, In Waves, which was released this past fall. The EP was recorded between bandleader Zach Hurd’s home studio in Los Angeles and the studios of producers Miro Mackie (The Neighbourhood, Dirty Projectors, St. Vincent), Christian Medice (Lovelytheband, Birthday, New Dialogue) and Jackson Greenberg (Rachel Cantu, Oscar nominated Netflix film Cartel Land and Netflix’s Explained).
Bay Ledges makes indie-pop with the power to transport listeners to a sunnier time and place. The LA- based band’s latest EP, In Waves, which follows up 2017’s Fountain Tropical EP, takes its title from surfer William Finnegan’s memoir Barbarian Days and his paradoxical approach to big-wave riding. “In the book he talks about just letting go when you’re getting pummeled by some terrifying wave—which is the opposite of what you think you’d need to do to live,” explains Hurd. “I wrote most of the EP after going through a breakup, and a lot of the songs came from trying to let go and surrender to that brokenhearted feeling instead of running away from it.”
