Since becoming the 2018 Eurovision finalist, Netta has been having one heck of a year. Through extensive performances and interviews in Europe, America, and her homeland of Israel, it is clear that the pop vocalist and mixer’s star is just beginning to shine. Next week, fans get to see her talent and hard work truly paying off as the single “Toy” climbs to #1 on the Billboard Dance Club chart. Not only is this a triumph for Netta and her team, but a significant indicator of the growing diversity within pop music’s spotlight. It is easy to speculate that 10, or maybe even 5 years ago, a record like “Toy” could never have reached a level of global praise and acceptance comparable to where we see it today. Netta has become a leader and role model for musicians and people whose mindsets, lifestyles, or appearances may not fit societal status quos, showing us all what is possible when you refuse to stop being different and continue to celebrate who you are!
On top of this chart success, Netta made her second visit to see U.S. fans last week, this time in New York, Atlanta, and Raleigh. After a busy few days of interviews and private shows, Netta ended the trip at a packed shopping mall in Raleigh, where dozens of schoolchildren and their parents got to enjoy her tunes for the Back To School Bash. YouTube videos of this performance show kids and adults alike gleefully belting the lyrics to “Toy”, many of them waving Israeli flags. It is certainly reassuring to see Netta’s message reaching younger generations across the world, leaving a lasting impact on our future leaders.
Netta has returned home where she will continue to record, perform, and experiment with sounds. Stay updated on her next adventures by following the accounts below!
